Congratulations to Alex! The Arabian Racing Organisation’s (ARO) Champion Jockey for the 2019 racing season.

This fantastic achievement in his first season riding under ARO rules was secured with 4 wins, 5 seconds, 6 thirds and 2 fourths.

Alex is seated here front right holding his 2019 ARO Champion Jockey’s trophy along with the rest of the James Owen Racing Team. 24yr old Alex is now an integral part of the James Owen Racing team having joined the Newmarket-based stable earlier this year. Prior to this he had a brief spell as a conditional jockey in Scotland, returning to the amateur ranks and initially riding point-to-pointers for Owen before commencing his first season on Arabians. What a truly remarkable achievement to become Champion Jockey in his first season riding under ARO rules ! Alex’s aim over the winter will be “to ride in point-to-points and under rules when I can, and hopefully getting more winners.”

Our congratulations also to James Owen on his 2019, third ARO Trainers’ championship and the success of the James Owen Racing Club.

Well done Alex and you can read more using this Link

A nice feature in the ARO Annual Review 2019 on Alex as the ARO Champion Jockey

While a lot of his spare time is spent on the golf course Andrew (a Business Manager at AGMA) also has an interest in photography. He has started accompanying his wife, who is besotted with horses, to horse events. On these trips he takes his camera and in these galleries you will find a collection of the shots he has captured.
