The months are flying in and lets hope spring is just around the corner.

Things are looking brighter with the sun shining and some very promising runs from young horses on their racecourse debuts. I was delighted with the run of Bollingerandkrug a promising young gelding by Getaway. He settled early and ran a nice race to finish a close 3rd, beaten by two smart prospects from the south. He was named by his owner Deborah Thomson after the popular brands of champagne. Let’s hope he can bring some home for a couple of drinks!

Cheltenham is only a week away and there is certainly a buzz around the yard with two runners planned to head down, Big River and Mighty Thunder. They both seem to be in good order at home and they should both hold each way chance all going well.

It’s great to be see some sun and the ground seems to be drying up which will benefit some of our spring horses with Perth only 6 weeks away and the regular fixtures at Hexham starting next week.

This weekend I head to Ayr to ride Venguer De Guye in the 2 mile Tenants Light Handicap Chase. He will hopefully run well with the ground being in his favour.
